Student Centered Teaching

On the teaching tee

We are all different; We have different physical attributes, different learning styles, different cognitive perceptions, and different goals. Maybe you are short and stocky, tall and thin, or somewhere in between. Are you a visual, auditory, or kinesthetic learner? Do you see the world in straight lines, or is the world a circle? Do you want to be one of the top players in the world, or one of the top players at your club?

Maybe you have been playing golf for years and taking lessons periodically, but have seen little or no improvement in your game. Have you ever considered that your lack of improvement is not because of your lack of ability, but instead because the way you receive information does not match you as an individual?

The proper turn
During my time in the golf world I have taught many individuals, and created a number of junior and women’s clinics. I attended the University of Georgia where I attained a degree in Psychology as well as was a member of the NCAA National Championship team. After graduation I played professionally for several years. This playing experience coupled with my knowledge of the physical and mental attributes of the golf swing has allowed me to see great results with students of all skill levels.

The mechanics of the golf swing are only a small piece of the puzzle. Other pieces like golf specific sports psychology, physical and mental preparation, course management, and honest personal evaluation combine with proper swing mechanics to form the whole picture of a successful golfer.
